New Ross Credit Union Merit Award

New Ross Credit Union's Merit Award recognizes the contribution of our community builders of tomorrow. The growth of New Ross Credit Union and the communities it serves exemplifies the achievements of people working together in their own communities. We hope to encourage those qualities of good citizenship and co-operation through this scholarship program.

The scholarship program awards $2000 per year; providing two awards of $1000 each to grade 12 graduates of Forest Heights Community School.

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a customer-owner or dependent of a customer-owner of New Ross Credit Union;
  • write an essay of such length as to clearly illustrate why you are deserving of the award and how your values match those of the New Ross Credit Union;
  • ensure the completed application, including the essay and a copy of your transcript, is forwarded to the attention of the school Guidance Counselor by the application deadline;
  • apply the award toward expenses for full-time training at any accredited post-secondary institution; full time training shall be defined as taking five (5) full credit courses or the equivalent in part time courses over one full academic year;
  • show consistent effort in the school environment; including, academic, social and extracurricular activities;
  • have consistent regular attendance throughout the school year;
  • maintain satisfactory grades; a copy of your transcript must be provided with your application.

Recipients will receive the award in October after confirmation has been provided to Forest Heights Community School that you are registered in and actively attending a post secondary institution.

Atlantic credit unions are proud to support the academic success of students in our provicnces.  The Atlantic Credit Unions Bursary Program is administered on behalf of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island credit unions by Atlantic Central.
